Van Cleef & Arpels started with a love story; that of Estelle Arpels, born Esther, who married Alfred Van Cleef in 1896. Since its foundation in 1906 at 22 place Vendôme, Paris, the Maison has become internationally renowned for its excellence. To quote Jacques Arpels : "our aim is to offer excellence in all that we do". This unique spirit of Van Cleef & Arpels is founded on three pillars:
- the centenary savoir-faire of our Mains d'Or, the 'Golden Hands', who pass down their unique
knowledge from one generation to another, and achieve technical feats such as the Mystery Setting in the Maison's place Vendôme workshop;
